in evaluating an argument:
*   Is it an argument, or is it a non-argument?

*   IF it is an argument:
    is it deductive or inductive?

*   IF it is deductive, 
    do its premises being true then REQUIRE that
        the conclusion be true? (is it VALID?)

*   IF it is inductive,
    so its premises being true provide GOOD REASON
        to accept its conclusion? (is it STRONG?)
